What To Expect

How to Dress?

  • At Hosanna you are welcome as you are.  So, if you want to wear shorts, jeans, a dress, or a suit and tie, you will fit right in.

When you arrive for worship on a Sunday morning:

  • You are encouraged to enter the building via our Main Church Entry. (See the diagram below.) Look for the BIG SIGN that reads MAIN ENTRANCE over some glass doors. This will lead you into our Lobby (Narthex).
  • Once in our Lobby/Narthex you will find friendly folks who will greet you and answer any initial questions you may have.
    • This friendly person will hand you a sheet with the latest Hosanna Happenings and a Connection Card.
    • The friendly person will also have a large print bulletin and/or hearing assistance devices available for you if you need them.
  • From there you will be directed to our Sanctuary where the morning worship will take place.
    • Scrolling Announcements will be up on the screens for you to see what the latest events are coming up at Hosanna.
    • There will also be on the bottom left corner of the screen a countdown timer that will appear when there is less than five-minutes before worship will begin. So, if you need to do something or make a last-minute trip to the rest room you know how much time you have before worship starts.
    • You can also use this pre-worship time to fill out your Connection Card. We ask EVERY household that is attending that morning to fill one out. As our guest you will be asked to fill in only the information you feel comfortable telling us at this time: i.e. your name(s), email, phone number, address. There is also a place for you to list prayer requests on the back of the card that you can utilize if needed. We want to pray for you and your needs. These cards are then put in the offering plates with the regular offering that is collected that morning later on in the service.
  • On the hour, Pastor Bret will greet everyone and highlight some of the latest upcoming events.
  • After the announcements worship will begin.
  • Everything you need to participate will be up on the screens. We try our best to make it easy for you to fit in even if it’s your first time joining us.
  • There will be songs for you to join in singing if you wish or not. (All the words will be up on the screens!)
  • After some singing someone will read a scripture passage or two from the Bible.
  • Then Pastor Bret will give a message related to the scripture lessons that were read earlier.
  • After the Message there will an opportunity to respond to that message by participating in a confession of our need for Jesus’ forgiveness, a creed which states what we believe about God, and some prayers.
  • There will also be an offering collection taken up around this time. This is where our members and regular attenders are asked to give a monetary gift to help support the ministries happening at and through Hosanna. As our guest, YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO GIVE ANYTHING! But if you want to give something…we appreciate whatever you can donate. Thank You.
  • Next Pastor Bret will ask us to stand as he reminds us of what happened at our Lord’s Last Supper with His disciples before He was crucified.
  • After this, we will all be asked to pray our Lord’s Prayer. (Don’t worry! It’s up on the screen.) Then we sit again.
  • Now it’s time for those who are present to receive Holy Communion. CLICK HERE TO SEE WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT HOLY COMMUNION
    • If this is something you have never done before you are welcome to sit back, remain seated and not participate if you wish. This is something that Baptized Christians do, and while we want to be welcoming to everyone, we also don’t want you to be confused if this is something you are unfamiliar with. So, if you do want to come forward that’s totally fine.
    • But if you are a baptized believer of Jesus Christ and have taken communion before (even if it was at a different church) you are welcome to come forward and join us around the communion table. Just put your hand out to receive the bread and wine…and it will be given to you. If you’re still unsure about what to do when you are up there…just take notice of what others are doing before you and you will fit in easily.
    • You can then return to your seat once everyone in that row up at the table has received both the bread and wine (Body and Blood of Jesus).
  • Once all have participated in Communion Pastor Bret will close the service with a blessing followed by a final song everyone is welcome to sing.
  • The service officially ends when a worship leader tells the people present to: “Go in Peace and Serve the Lord.” And we all respond by saying, “Thanks be to God!”
  • That’s it. You are now welcome to leave and go on your way… hopefully renewed in your spirit with God’s presence. But you are also welcome to hang out a little longer and meet some friendly Hosanna Folk if you want. It’s all up to you.

By the way, in between our Sunday services, Hosanna has what we call our Fellowship Cafe.

It’s a FREE Breakfast/Brunch that you are welcome to join.

This is not just some donuts and coffee. It’s a real meal!

So, stick around after our 9 A.M. worship, or, come early if you plan to attend our 11 A.M. worship and have breakfast with us.
